The Romantic Cello: UTRGV Series

Enjoy a soulful Sunday afternoon as UTRGV faculty pianist Dr. Brendan Kinsella and guest artist Dr. Daniel Saenz take the stage for an intimate recital of music for violoncello and piano. The program journeys from the dreamy, storybook world of Janáček’s Fairy Tale to the rich and expressive harmonies of Rachmaninoff’s Sonata for Violoncello and Piano, with a contemporary touch from Jessie Montgomery. This beautifully curated performance promises to move, inspire, and captivate listeners of all ages.
The UTRGV Concert Series at IMAS is a unique opportunity to spend Sunday afternoons surrounded by fine art and live music. Each concert highlights the exceptional talent of the UTRGV School of Music faculty and students, featuring a rotating lineup of genres and instruments—piano, cello, jazz, voice, percussion, and more—performed in the galleries of the International Museum of Art & Science.
This concert is included with general admission and is free for IMAS Members and UTRGV College of Fine Arts Patrons of the Arts. Presented in partnership with the UTRGV College of Fine Arts, it’s a wonderful way for families and music lovers to connect with the arts in a warm and welcoming setting.
